Writing Guidelines for Papers of the International Symposium on Turkish Language Teaching and Turkology in the Balkans

Title: The title should be compatible with the content and should express the content in the best possible way. The paper title should be written in Times New Roman, 16 pt, bold, centered, with 12 pt spacing before and 30 pt spacing after, and 1.5 line spacing. Each word should begin with a capital letter, and the remaining letters should be lowercase.

Author name(s) and address: The author’s name should be written below the title in Times New Roman, left-aligned, 12 pt, with 0 pt spacing before and 10 pt spacing after, and 1.5 line spacing. Information such as the author’s title, institution, email address, and ORCID ID should be included in a footnote.

Abstract: At the beginning of the paper, there should be Turkish and English abstracts that briefly and concisely present the subject of the paper, consisting of at least 250 and at most 350 words. One blank line should be left below the abstract, followed by keywords consisting of at least 3 and at most 5 words. The abstract text should be written in Times New Roman, 10 pt, justified, with 6 pt spacing before and 6 pt spacing after, and 1.5 line spacing.

Keywords: Keywords should be written in Times New Roman, 10 pt, justified, with 6 pt spacing before and 6 pt spacing after, and 1.5 line spacing.

Main text: The paper should be written on A4-size pages in Microsoft Word, using Times New Roman, 12 pt, justified, with 0 pt spacing before and 10 pt spacing after, and 1.5 line spacing. Page margins should be set as follows: top 3.5 cm, bottom 3 cm, left 3.5 cm, and right 2.5 cm. Pages should not be numbered. Papers should not be fewer than 3,000 words and should not exceed 7,000 words, including the abstract, references, images, figures, maps, and other appendices. Paragraph indentation should not be used in the paper text. All information in footnotes should be written in Times New Roman, left-aligned, 10 pt, with 0 pt spacing before and after, and single line spacing.

Section headings: Main headings, subheadings, and lower-level headings may be used in the paper to ensure an orderly presentation of information, and headings may be numbered where necessary. Section headings should be bold, numbered, left-aligned, 14 pt, with 12 pt spacing before and 10 pt spacing after, and 1.5 line spacing. Only the first letter should be capitalized, and the remaining letters should be lowercase. Subheadings should be written in Times New Roman, 12 pt, bold, numbered as 1.1., 1.2., etc., left-aligned, with 0 pt spacing before and 10 pt spacing after, and 1.5 line spacing. Only the first letter should be capitalized, and the remaining letters should be lowercase.

Tables and figures: Tables should have a number and a title. Tables should be placed within the text where they are required. Figures should be prepared in a format suitable for color printing. Table properties should be set to autofit. Table text should be written in Times New Roman, 9 pt, justified, with left and right indents set to 0, 6 pt spacing before and after, and single line spacing. Figure numbers and captions should be written centered immediately below the figure.

Images: Images should be high-resolution, scanned in print quality, and placed in their appropriate positions within the text. The rules for naming figures and charts should also be followed for images. Copyright issues must be observed when using images.

Quotations, verse, and references: Papers submitted to the symposium must comply with the following standards for quotations, verse, and references. Studies that do not comply with these rules will be returned to the authors for revision. Quotations and verse exceeding a few sentences within the text should be written in Times New Roman, 9 pt, justified, with left and right indents of 1 cm, 6 pt spacing before and after, and single line spacing.

References: At the end of the text, under the heading “References,” all cited sources should be listed in accordance with APA 7th edition. The references should be written in Times New Roman, 12 pt, left-aligned, hanging indent, with 12 pt spacing before and 10 pt spacing after, and single line spacing.
